The unique challenge associated with this house was designing a home that would feel comfortable for a single mom and her daughter, be able to host the entire high school football team for dinner, and sleep up to 10 overnight guests. Carefully sited on 32 acres as the first of several structures, our client asked that from the outside, the house look as if it had been part of the island for the past 100 years — but from the inside, reflect a modern lifestyle. The interior is arranged around a light filled office at the center of the house, and a two story light-well controlled by a tall barn door. Looking to the future, the house is designed for phased wheelchair accessibility.
