Fern Hill Residence

This 1800 sf home on five acres was built for a couple “downsizing” as their grown kids graduated from college. Phase one of a larger Master Plan, it responds to their request for a somewhat “quirky” home that reflects their love of the island and desire to simplify. Although formally a one-bedroom house, sleeping spots for six guests are tucked around the house. Additionally, 10 feet of rolling doors reconfigure an office space into a guest room for privacy. The house incorporates artifacts of the Owners — a log found on the beach, a porthole from a trip East, salvaged windows, and a Bay Laurel slab from San Juan Island.
