Deer Harbor Residence

This home for a couple and their extended family sits on the edge of an open west-facing meadow in the Deer Harbor area. Designed for small and large gatherings of family and friends, the house sleeps six, with built-in daybeds and “berths” to sleep an additional five. To accommodate a south-westerly waterview while controlling glare from the western sun, the house was designed with corner windows that are shaded by deep eaves and a large cedar trellis and sunshade. A separate 1000 sf structure houses a shop, car and boat garage. Its large green roof is planted with sod and red clover, and its slope is matched to the slope of the meadow. The house is clad in reverse board and batten cedar siding, cedar lap siding, painted cementitious lap siding, and stucco. The house incorporates both SIP roof panel and rastra block construction as well as custom site built scissor trusses.
Landscape installation is anticipated in the fall of 2008.
